New Year, New Army?

Jan 10th, 2022

Games Workshop is pushing their "New Year, New Army" marketing campaign to start off 2022, but what does that mean for Tsaragrad?

To cut to the chase: no, I won't be starting a new army... per se.

Instead, I will be using this opportunity to refocus my efforts on Da Ironbullz in order to get a full table-ready force painted up this year!

All told, Da Ironbullz have grown to a whopping 5,114 points when tallying up all of the projects and units I have currently in progress (many of which haven't yet been featured on this blog). Yet just a fraction of that (<10%) is painted & based; this must be fixed!

Thus, I'm kicking off the new year on this blog by working towards a ~500-point Combat Patrol force comprised of units I've already built and partially painted for Da Ironbullz, shown below:

Da Ironbullz 2022 Combat Patrol

(You might notice I've already gotten a head start on basecoating many of these models, as I mentioned in my last post)

Or, if you prefer, here's the Combat Patrol force as an army list:

+----------------------------+ | Patrol Detachment: Orks | | 497 Points; 28 Power Level | | 3 Command Points | | Goffs Clan Kultur | +----------------------------+ HQ: Warboss [Warlord] - 90 points Wargear: Headwoppa's Killchoppa (Relic), Kombi-Skorcha, 2x Slugga Upgrades: Brutal but Kunnin (warlord trait) Troops: Ork Boyz - 95 points Boss Nob with Big Choppa & Choppa 9x Ork Boyz with Choppas & Sluggas Elites: Meganobz - 200 points Boss Meganob with dual Killsaws Meganob with dual Killsaws Meganob with Power Klaw & Kombi-Rokkit 2x Meganobs with Power Klaw & Kustom Shoota Elites: Nobz - 112 points Boss Nob with Power Klaw & Choppa Nob with Power Klaw & Choppa 2x Nobs with Big Choppa & Choppa Nob with dual Choppas

I'm looking forward to taking this opportunity to reorient my hobby goals. Over the last ~year, I've been prioritizing building units in order to play in casual tournaments with not-embarassingly-unoptimized lists. However, as I've discussed before, the goal of this project from the beginning was to be a hobby project first and foremost. Going forward, this means I'll be prioritizing units and conversions I'm especially excited about, even if they aren't the most competitive on the tabletop!
